One of the most frequently challenged books of the last 100 years, this is the story of a family living in South America, spanning generations. Although well respected, the family suffers from insanity, which becomes apparent throughout the book. It is also about culture and government, often focusing on conservatives and policical radicals. While it may be confusing to keep the family tree straight through remarriage, multiple partners, and many characters, it is worth the trouble.
